Internet goes nuts over impossibly cute video of squirrel dramatically waking up... and then gently falling back asleep

It’s almost as if it suddenly panicked over where it buried its acorns.

At least, that was the observation of one internet user about an impossibly cute video of a squirrel dramatically waking up – then gently falling asleep again.

The clip was uploaded to an Instagram account named after the squirrel – ‘squirrel_sonya’ – and the internet subsequently went nuts for it. An impossibly cute video of a squirrel dramatically waking up – then gently falling asleep again – has driven the internet nuts

The person ‘Squirrel Sonya’ is nestled with in the clip is Elena Ermakova from Novosibirsk, Russia, who reportedly took her in as a baby after she fell out of her nest and was abandoned.

She is now a member of the family and even, apparently, has her own shelf in the fridge.

Her hobbies include hiding nuts in all sorts of places around the house – such as jacket pockets and in flower pots – and chewing anything within reach.

Ms Ermakova takes her for walks using a little leash and lets her hitch a ride on her shoulder.

The video of Sonya waking up was viewed over 1.3million times on Imgur, with user ‘Imjustanotherbrickinthewall’ labelling it ‘I forgot where I left my nuts!’

Another user, Jadelion, likened the dramatic awakening to the panic felt over a huge work load that’s yet to be completed, commenting: ‘When you’re about to go to sleep but realize you have 2 essays, 3 book chapters, and a PowerPoint due tomorrow.’ The clip was uploaded to an Instagram account named after the squirrel – ‘squirrel_sonya ’ The person ‘Squirrel Sonya’ is nestled with in the clip is Elena Ermakova from Novosibirsk, who reportedly took her in as a baby after she fell out of her nest and was abandoned

Earlier this month footage emerged of a group of young men saving the life of a squirrel in Colombia.

The red rodent reportedly accidentally electrocuted itself on the powerlines in Cartagena, a city on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.

It was spotted by several unidentified persons, who picked it up and started trying to revive the rodent.

Video footage of their Samaritan actions have since emerged online, and been shared on social media.

The video shows the squirrel lying on the seat of a moped, seemingly immovable.

One of the young men is gently tapping on the squirrel’s chest in an attempt to restart its heart.

Not giving up, they keep working on the little rodent’s heart for several minutes, until it finally starts breathing again.
